Ibanez SR700 Bass Demo'd By Hirsute Gearwire Staffer

Six-string-slinger J. Irving-Giles transposes his chops down two octaves to tackle the Ibanez SR700, an electric bass that plays like a shredder's guitar. Aside from featuring a flame maple top and superfast 24 fret neck, the SR700 boasts a pair of Bartonlini MK1-4 active soapbars running through a Bartolini MK1 3-band EQ. All this for about $700, retail. Mr. Irving-Giles is playing those alt-metal-worthy licks through a Fender Rumble 100, and gets an impressive piano-like tone with a pick. Dang those are nice pickups.
